The Balkan file: nine years in Kosovo

In 2014, as KONFED, we sent our Vice President Mustafa Ulu and his team to Kosovo to support Kosovo’s development and strengthen its fellowship with Türkiye. Over nine years, especially in agriculture, the sector we chose to focus on, they carried out pioneering work (the first planned, large-scale walnut orchards and sour cherry orchards were planted, and potato and onion production began on a single 25-hectare plot).

Today, together with Mustafa Ulu, our president responsible for the Balkans, Ms Elizabet, president of the women’s associations we helped establish, and our technical team, we visited five selected municipalities, the Kosovo Ministry of Agriculture and TİKA as a delegation and presented our new projects. The main theme of our projects is women’s entrepreneurship and employment, enabling women to export what they produce, and supporting them through positive discrimination.

Joining us to see and support our projects in the Balkans was my dear brother Zafer Güzelkasap, President of the International Federation of Cretans and Exchangees.
