Commemorating Rumi’s 746th Night of Union

In cooperation between TRT, KONVAK and KONFED, we held a magnificent COMMEMORATION PROGRAMME FOR THE 746th ANNIVERSARY OF THE REUNION WITH THE DIVINE OF MEVLANA JALALUDDIN RUMI, THE SULTAN OF HEARTS. We thank İzmir Deputy Governor Erhan Günay; Karabağlar Mayor Muhittin Selvitopu; Karabağlar District Governor and our fellow townsman Cemil Özgür Öneği; the district governors of Buca and Konak; Hakan Kuralay, director of TRT Radio and partner of the evening; our distinguished protocol guests and officials; representatives of our political parties; our esteemed guests; the hundreds of devoted guests who watched the one-hour programme standing; the associations affiliated with our Federation KONFED; the board of our foundation KONVAK; the presidents and boards of 65 guest confederations, federations, foundations and associations; members of the press; our sponsors; and everyone who contributed.

Rumi commemorated in İzmir

Rumi was commemorated on the 746th anniversary of his death with a Şeb-i Arus ceremony held at the Dokuz Eylül University Sabancı Cultural Centre, in cooperation between the Federation of Konyalılar Associations (KONFED), the Konyalılar Culture and Mutual Aid Foundation (KONVAK) and TRT.

KONFED–KONVAK President Mehmet Aydoğan said they act in the spirit of Rumi’s love and tolerance: “With this event marking the 746th anniversary of Rumi’s reunion with the Divine, we aim to build a bridge of hearts between İzmir and Konya.”

Stressing that, as Konyalılar living in İzmir, they try to keep Rumi’s climate of tolerance alive in İzmir too, President Mehmet Aydoğan thanked the guests who attended the Şeb-i Arus ceremony and the institutions that supported the event.

The Şeb-i Arus ceremony at the Dokuz Eylül University Sabancı Cultural Centre was attended by executives from the public and private sectors and civil society organisations, along with many guests.

At the event, TRT executives presented flowers to KONFED–KONVAK President Mehmet Aydoğan for his contribution to the evening.
