Our President’s message for 15 July

15 July was the gravest scene this nation has witnessed since the War of Independence. But they had forgotten one thing: even if you have the whole world behind you against this country, if you have set yourself against the nation, you are doomed to lose.

This treacherous coup attempt launched by traitors ended in absolute victory, thanks above all to the courage of our President Mr Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the foresight of the core staff of our state, and the efforts this noble nation made at the cost of their lives. The plans were foiled; the hornets’ nest was scattered.

This treacherous occupation, launched by wholly anti-national elements, in effect lit the torch of this nation’s rebirth. Our martyrs and veterans, with all their pain, have become the nation’s medals of honour forever. On the anniversary of this day of rebirth, I pray for God’s mercy on our blessed martyrs who fell to the ground and wish our veterans a full recovery.
